Maria Saunders was Maria Kohler at birth, the daughter of Amelia Kohler (nee Offergeld) and Charles Kohler. Amelia was born in Aix La Chappelle (now Aachen).

Charles Kohler ran prestigeous tailoring businesses in Dublin, Ireland, and the famous Savile Row area of London. When he died circa 1856 Amelia emigrated to New York to join her daughter Maria and Maria's husband, Simon Maddox Saunders.

Amelia had other children, one of whom was my Great Great Grandfather, Thomas Kohler, who was born in Ireland and who emigrated to London, UK, circa 1860.

If you would like moe information please do contact me. I'm delighted to hear of surviving relatives and will share the details I have with joy.
