John Oakman of Ireland was a Private in the 48th Northhamptonshire Regiment in 1821. This regiment was in Sydney, Australia, from 1815-1824. John was sent out to join them in December 1820. In 1824 the regiment moved on to Trichinopolly in India. John also served with the 38th Regt and the Royal Sappers and Miners. Has anyone come across this guy in their research? Looking to learn of John's birthplace and parents.
