Bertie O'Barr GA>AL>MO>AR
I need help! I am up against a brick wall! My great grandmother was Bertie O'Barr(Roberta or possibly Alberta). She was born in 1858 in Rome, GA - or at least she was a small child there when Sherman marched through (Family story) Also, she went to school there with Ellen Louis Axson, who later became Mrs. Woodrow Wilson. Bertie married Elisha Marion Bramlett (no marriage record found), and their first child Raleigh Edgar Bramlett, my grandfather, was born in Round Mt.,AL, in 1879.Bertie and Elisha moved to White Plains, MO, when my grandfather was small. They then moved to El Dorado, Union County, Arkansas. The only information I have about Bertie is that she had a sister named Camille, and two brothers: James, who became a cattle rancher in Texas, and Louis Turner O'Barr who also settled in El Dorado, AR.The only written records I have found for Bertie are her obituary and death record which both list her only as Bertie.(No parents listed) I have not been able to find her on any census record before her marriage. I have thought for a long time that she might be a daughter of Thomas L. O'Barr of Floyd County, GA. However, I have no proof. (Bertie's brother Louis (Luke) Turner named one of his sons Tom Jones O'Barr - the name Tom runs in the family.) I have worked on this line for thirty years and am stuck! If anyone has a clue which might help me connect Bertie to her parents, please let me know.Jean Guice
