Hi Brian! Thank you for responding to my message. Yes Jesse was Matthews brother as was Robert, Thomas and more. By the way, Mathis is Matthew. I have no idea why he used both names, but he used Mathis more often. The story goes.... 5 brothers came from Alabama going westward and My Ggg grandmother Rebecca was very pregnant and went into labor in Chickasaw County, Houston, Ms in 1853. They already had 5 girls and she gave birth to a boy- Joseph Dunkin O'Barr and Matthew decided to stay in Chickasaw County. The others went on. I know that his brother Thomas was shot in the Civil War and died of infection according to the petition his widow filed from Arkansas. And other brothers made it to Texas and Arizona. I have most all of the Mississippi family info- I would love to trade info with you. I am joining the DAR and am trying to use the O'Barr men to join with in honor of my father. That is why I'm trying to find proof of linage. I have other relatives I could use but I'm going to try the O'Barrs first. I'll email you some info. I have great photos of a lot of them too. I'll send some.
thanks again!
Cindy Davis
