Yes Julie I do believe he is. I found a document on Ancestry.com one night with Hanna's signature (her mark) on it petioning the courts for his pension and she claimed that he was shot and died of infectious disease from the wound. I have a mountain of papers here but i will try and find it for you. The birth date matches to my ggg grandfathers brother. So I assumed with his wife and dates correct- it was him. I do know that the Thomas I'm speaking of was from Arkansas as was Matthews brother. The family story you told on an earlier post fits this pretty accurate. I think it's your grandfather- don't you?look forward to hearing from you-
