Try County Offally in Ireland. There were, supposedly, O'Berreaghs from that area. Materials on Irish names share that the name came to be spelled O'Berry and the family was a part of the O'Dempseys. However, the earliest O'Berry is our ancestor John O'Berye and his wife Rose who received a land grant in Virginia near Williamsburg (the land is now part of Fort Eustis, Virginia) in 1636. The family appears to have spread out from there. You can trace the migration of our family from Virginia thru North Carolina to Georgia where James O'Berry of North Carolina received a land grant in 1762. However, on the internet the spelling "O'Berye" is Dutch (Netherlands). The early O'Berrys in Georgia first received land in Effingham County in the area populated by the Moravians and Salzburgers. Later family members moved to McIntosh County, Georgia. From there my forbears moved to Ware County, Georgia. Many family members later went to Florida and Texas.
