Information from another O'Berry researcher suggests that Wesley's father was John J. O'Berry - we know his mother was named Prudence. Wesley O'Berry was living with his mother in 1850 before going to Florida. John J. O'Berry's parents were James O'Berry and wife Priscilla. They did have a son named Reubin but he was too old to be in the civil war. John J. O'Berry also had a son Reubin-born 1820-too young to be Wesley's father. Wesley and Reubin were both in Marion County, Florida by 1860. Wesley was thought to have deserted too until Dan O'Berry's father found the truth. Wesley O'Berry died August 25, 1862 in Lynchburg, Virginia. His wife believed all her life that Wesley had deserted and never applied for her civil war pension.
