We both are decended from Wilson Connor O'Berry, Sr. son of Solomon O'berry and Mary Jackson. His wife was Elizabeth James, dau of Deacon Ben James of Pierce Co. GA. Ben James has a church and cemetery named for him on Hacklebarney Road in Blackshear GA.
Wilson Connor Sr. had a large number of children with his wife Elizabeth but she died somewhere between 1850 & 1860. She appears with Wilson Sr. in the 1850 census but not in the 1860 census. The children were all parcelled out to various relatives in Blackshear (Deacon Ben James kept most of them)and Glenmore. Wilson Sr. is shown in the 1860 census living with his brother-in-law, William James in the Glenmore community (today called Maynor in Ware Co. GA). Wilson Connor Oberry was a member of the 1st Georgia Infantry Reserves (Symons). When he was called up he was wounded in action and taken POW. He died in the POW hospital on Hilton Head Island and buried there but was later removed to the Bufort National Cemetery in Bufort SC. I have visited his grave there. His son is my ancestor, Wilson Connor Oberry Jr. born in 1850 who settled in the O'Berrytown community near Millwood in Ware Co. GA. Wilson Jr. & his third wife, Jerucia Spikes had three sons, Benjamin Franklin O'Berry, David Ebenezer O'Berry, and John Green O'Berry. Both Ben and David Ebenezer were Conjure Doctors, or practicioners of Hoodoo.
I do not know a lot about the decendents of the other children of Wilson Sr. and would love to any information you can find on them. All I have is their names.
