Donald Mac O'Day

Donald Mac O'Day, 65, of Farmington, Iowa died on Monday, March 12 1990 at 1:55 a.m. at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 15 at the Shaffer & Sons Memorial chapel with Reverend Fred Malone and Reverand Mike Shea officiating, with burial in the Kahoka Cemetery. The music was provided by Mary Daw, organist and Penny Seth, soloist. Visitation was on Wednesday with the family greeting friends that evening. The Masonic services were held onWednesday evening. The pallbearers were Vernon Edlen, Stanley Edlen, David Alderton, Sr, Steve Weaver, Dan Schlicher, and Terry Foor. The honorary pallbearers were Robert Ekle, Keith Nixon, Jack Rider, Bernard Seth, Paul Harrison, James Elliott, Delbert Huckey, Carroll Nixon, Bill Stewart, Robert Boon, and Roland Worrell.

Mr O'Day was the son of Andrew Henry and Diamond Theresa Gutting O'Day and he was born at Kahoka, Missouri on September 28, 1924. He was united in marriage to Thelma Florence Edlen on September 6, 1942 at Kahoka and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter Karen Schlicher and her husband, Dale, of Farmington, Iowa; two sons Paul O'Day and his wife Barbara, of Kahoka; Ross O'Day and his wife, Kathy, of Farmington, Iowa; one brother Andrew O'Day of Wayland; two sisters Mrs Della Arnold, Kahoka; Mrs Mary Mertz, Tampa, Florida; seven grandchildren Clint and Kaci O'Day, Stacey and Corey Schlicher Michael and Amy O'Day and Kristi O'Day Alderton; several nieces; nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Wilbert O'Day and Joseph H O'Day.

He was a member of the Revere Community Church and Masonic Lodge #362 AF & AM.... of Kahoka. He had served on the Revere School Board for 18 years. He had lived and farmed in the Clark County area until his retirement.
