Hi Cheryl,
I am hoping that you might be able to help us, as you _may_ have a connection to a line that a cousin & I are trying desperately to figure out.
We both descend from a Scott line that ended up in Greene Co, PA.An unverified source says that our first _proven_ ancestor, John Scott (b. in the 1750's, m. Catherine _____, possibly Hamilton) was the son of Thomas Scott and Mrs. Susannah Oder (widow) who m. in Lancaster Co. VA on April 22, 1730.We have no further information on Thomas and Susannah other than their marriage -- no confirmation that they even had children, much less one named John who ended up in Greene Co.Neither do we know Susannah's maiden name, or the name of her first husband, "Mr. Oder."
_Any_ information you can provide about this couple would be helpful -- including information on Susannah's first marriage. We're sort of grasping at straws here (Scott is a common name, and trying to pin down a John Scott in the 1700's is near impossible!), and any clues, however small, would be helpful.
I am very happy to trade information.I don't know how helpful it would be to you, but we have scads of information on the Scotts after they settled in Greene Co., which we'd be happy to share.
Looking forward to hearing from you.....
Cheers,
Gordon Bonnet
