I am trying to trace my family tree and have come upon a Matthew O'Donnell. He married Catherine Weir on 6 November 1865 in Middle or New Parish, Greenock, Scotland. He died 7 February 1899 at 18 Tobago Street, Greenock, Scotland. From his death certificate his parents names were James O'Donnell and Catherine O'Donnell (nee Mulhern). Prior to Matthew's marriage record there is nothing about him in any of the records. I did a search of the register in the 1861 census, no Matthew O'Donnell or James O'Donnell. Matthew and Catherine had 4 children that I have found, Catherine Cram (Born 22 December 1871), James (Born 26 February 1870), Margaret (Born 10 March 1868), and Mary (Born 30 Aug 1866).
Catherine Cram O'Donnell Married Alexander Munro on 04 July 1894 at Saint John's, Geenock, Scotland. She is my Great Grandmother on my dad's side of the family.
I have heard that the O'Donnell's came from Donegal, Ireland, can anybody help with this.
