O'Donnell Family Genealogy Forum

Hi, Johanna,
Rather belated but I hope you are still around. I Think your James O'Donnell could be a son of the William O'Donnell and Mary (Sausse) who lived in a 2-storey house with 2 servants in Main St. Carrick-on-Suir in the census of 1821. He is 35 years old and she is 32. No James in he family so far but they were both still young with only 5 children so there were probably more later. William is described as a Gentleman and Farmer. He had a farm outside town it seems. You mention that James had a University education. The two elder boys Joseph and Richard qualified at the Kings Inns in Dublin so this was obviously that kind of family.
One of my GG grandfathers was Patrick Hayden, merchant of Carrik-on-Suir in the early 19th century. His journal menions the O'Donnell family several times so he obvously knew them. His wife was bridget Sausse, a cousin of William's wife Mary Sausse. If you could find out more about your James O'Donnell perhaps we could make the identication more certain.
