Thank you for your reply. In the time since I posted this message I have found a bit more information. In the 1850 census Peter is listed as age 40, and his wife Ellen is 32. They have the following children: John 14, Bridget 9, Mary 6, Catherine 6, Hugh 1 and Peter 5?. Per this census all the children were born in Ct. This would put Peter and Ellen in Ct as early as 1836. However, in the 1860 census (listed as Peter Flarity) Peter is 45, Ellen is 42, their children are: Bridget 19, Mary Ann 17, Catherine 15, Hugh 11 and John Sullivan is 7. In this cenus it gives the birth place of thier oldest dau Bridget as New Brunswick, and Mary Ann as Ct. This would mean Peter and Ellen came to Ct sometime between 1841-1843. By the 1870 census Peter was apparently dead. I can find Ellen (as OFlaherty) age 56, and children Hugh 22, and Bridget 24. I have not found their son John (though there are several possibilities) I did find a John Flarity age 26 with a young family in Hartford (he was born in Ireland). However, I cannot be sure he is their son. My ancester Mary is a Rohmayer by this time and is found with her husband, she is now 27 and still listed as born in Ct. In the 1880 census I again found Ellen, now age 66 with her dau Bridget age 35 (Bridget is listed as born in Canada. Mary is now 37 and still listed born in Ct. I also found the youngest son Hugh O'Flaherty now ge 31 born in Ct with his family. Based on the above I believe Peter was born sometime between 1810-1815 in Ireland. Ellen was born sometime between 1814-1818 also in Ireland. They were married sometime before 1836 as their oldest son John was 14 in 1850 (possibly born in Ireland). They left Ireland before their oldest dau Bridget was born in 1841 in New Brunswick, Canada and arrived in Hartford Ct before 1843 when their dau Mary was born there. I have not yet gotten back to the genealogy library for further research, but hope to soon. Notify Administrator about this message?
