I was curious to know if anyone knows anything about my GreatX4 Grandmother Mary Anne O’Flaherty of Aglish Co. Waterford. her daughter was Catherine Nagle known as ‘Beautiful Kate of Garnavilla’ in a poem by Edward Lysaght, Mary Anne married Richard Nagle of Garnavilla Mary Anne’s father was Major James O’Flaherty who married Catherine FitzGerald (her brother was Major Fitzgerald of Kilmurray and Ballinaparka Co. Waterford on the river Suir) there is a wonderfully romantic letter from him to Catherine, who had not told anyone they were married as James was in the army of bonny prince Charles and was on the run, they only had the one child, my greatx4grandmother Mary Anne. Mary Anne was interred in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Mary Anne’s father Major James O Flaherty’s parents were Dr. Francis O’Flaherty of Aglish Co. Waterford and Mary Roche daughter of Dr. James Roches and grand daughter of Col. Roche and Margaret FitzGerald (daughter of Sir Gerald FitzGerald of Dromana Lord of Decies and Mabel Digby). Col. Roche at his own expense raised and maintained a regiment of horse for Charles I in 1641 Col. Roche Alive 1640’s Dr. James Roche Dr. Francis O’Flaherty = Mary Roche of Aglish Co.
