Hi Linda, I have not been successful in my efforts to find acceptable proof for John Ogbourn. An entire year passed, and I heard nothing from the DAMES genealogist. I finally had the local DAMES registra, that had helped me my application, to inquire. She was told that the DAMES genealogist had returned my paperwork some time in the past, but I neither received it nor a letter explaining its rejection. I really could not believe that they did not accept it. I can not believe that with all the works that has been done on the Ogburns is not proof enough - they all say there were three brothers: James, John and Littleberry. But that is the way things go. The only source material I have are the books I have mentioned: 1. Rubyn Reynolds Ogburn's book: "As I Was Told"; 2. Fielding Ogburn's book: "A Collection of Genealogical Information About The Ogburn Family in USA", (1980). 3. Robert W. Ogburn's book: "The OGBURNS, An Obscure American Family" 4. Mabrel Ogburn Surles' book: "The Ogburns of Johnston County, NC." I will let you know if I find any further information that will prove helpful. Please do the same for me.
