In the 1910 census Alice said she was married and Charlie, who also said he was married, may have been visiting his mother. Or maybe, they were living apart previous to their divorce.

Alice was in dwelling #11 and Malissa FITE, a 72 year old widow, was in dwelling #86, both in Jefferson, Adams, OH.

In the 1880 census, in Scott, Brown, OH is a James FITE 45, his wife Melissa 42, a son C. F. (Charlie?) age 5 and a daughter D. L. age 22. The ages of Melissa and Charlie (C.F.) match their ages in 1910.

In 1920, Charles F. FITE, age 46, widow, was in Jefferson, Adams, OH. Living with him was his son Chester F. 16 and a sister Lilly D. (D. L. in 1880) age 61 single.

Saying you are a widow(er) is more convenient than saying you are divorced! Where is Alice in 1920?

Charles F. Fite died a widow on 26 Mar 1959 in Adams County Hospital in West Union. Contact the library there, http://adamsco.lib.oh.us/hours-locations.htm, and ask for a copy of his obit.

I am not related.
