Larry -- West Union is in Adams County. Mason and Fleming Counties in Kentucky are just across the river, and, until the 1930's, there were a large number of ferries that crossed between Manchester and Maysville and between Rome/Wrightsville and Lewisburg. There were also a large number of marriages between the Ohio and Kentucky families. In your family as in mine, the loss of the 1890 census is a real obstacle as there were many things happening in my family at that time. Then, of course, the Adams County Courthouse fire in 1910 really makes things difficult. I'll see what I can find in the "cholera" cemetery. It is fairly small and I will be searching for Elizabeth, too. Do you know where she died? West Union? Is it the West Union Presbyterian church to which the obituary refers? If Ellen died in West Union, there is a really good chance that her obituary is from "The People's Defender," and the Adams County Genealogical Society http://userpages.bright.net/~acgs/ has microfilm of the Defender. They do "look-ups" for a nominal fee. They also have cemetery books including photos of the tombstones. They are really delightful people and grateful for your contributions. They may also have a file on your family with even more information in it. I'll print out your information and take it with me. I travel in a small RV with my three cats. We'll park outside my sister's house in West Union and I'll walk to most of the places (cemetery) and gen society while I'm in West Union so my expenses will be pretty minimal. I'll let you know what I find. Moss Notify Administrator about this message?
