Thanks, Craig. I'm mostly grabbing at any straw I can find on my Martin K. Dunn and Mary Parker. Here's what I have:

Martin K. Dunn, b. 1800, MD; d. 1876, Greene Co., OH, bur Bellbrook Cemetery; m. Mary Ann Parker, 1838 (I have specific dates for all of these.) Mary Parker was b. 1819, OH; d. Sept. 1854. Martin then m. Mary Ann Watson, Dec. 1854. He is buried with his first wife, and several children who died quite young.

Martin and Mary Parker Dunn had 6 children: Margaret Elizabeth, who m. George Hendrickson; John L., d.y; Thomas C.; Peter P., d.y; William, and Mary E.; d.y..

The first time I find Martin and Mary is in the 1850 census records for Greene Co. By 1860, he is there with his second wife.

There is a Thomas C. Dunn bur in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia, OH, along side his wife, Ann. Census records say Thomas C. was b. ca 1845. His tombstone gives 1840, which, if that is correct, would indicate he was probably a twin of Margaret Elizabeth. I can find neither him nor William in any census records after 1870, when they are living with Martin K., and their stepmother, Mary Watson.

The name Martin seems quite unusual before Martin K., so I was hoping his mother's maiden name might be Martin.

Here's all of what I have on Martin:

REF: "History of Greene County, OH," by George F. Robinson, Chicago: The S. J. Clarke Publishing Company, 1902, p. 298: Dunn, Mark (sic), Sugar Creek, 1840. Dunn, Mark (sic) K. Sugar Creek. 1840; November 20, 1838, married Mary Parker." (Note from EDN: This book is unclear as to the dates given. Believe the date following the name to mean the year in which this person settled in Sugar Creek?)

Birth date taken from death date and age on tombstone. Backed out age and date of death on calculator to find date of birth. 75y 6m 2d.

Other Dunns listed in the book and settling in Sugar Creek, 1840: William, Mark and Mark K. (Martin K. on census records) Thomas who m. Hester Beason, Mar. 19, 1829; John, Thomas J., Seth, William, C., son of Simeon Dunn, and Elnathan.

(Could the first Mark (Martin?) be Martin K's father? Investigate.)

(Buried in the same plot as Martin, his wife and children, is a Mary C. Hawkins, b. 23 Mar 1846; d. 18 Jan 1877. 1870 Census, OHIO Series: M593 Roll: 1205 Page: 237, Keeping house, living with William Daick, 50 and VaBoda (?), Lyretter (?) J. Hawkins, 22, keeping house, and John E. Smith(?), 12. ________ hand.

Aside from the census records from 1850 - 1870, this is all the information I have on this couple, and I've been looking for them for many, many years.

Do so hope you can connect!

Thanks again,

Esther
