I notice Msg. 164 this forum seeks Peter Engle who m. Mary Isabel Mason.
John Mason, b. 14 Apr 1814 Frederick Co., VA s/o Rezin Mason & Mary Weir/Ware m. Elizabeth Newland 28 Jan 1835 in Champaign Co., OH. Elizabeth Newland is probably related to the Newland families of Frederick Co., VA. John Newland m. Margaret Weir/Ware and Marcus Newland, m. Catherine Weir/Ware. John Newland was a Rev .war Vet who is buried in Fayette Co., OH. The Weir sisters are daughters of Joseph & Margaret Weer. Yes, Weer as shown on his will.
Mary Weir/Ware is shown as a grand daughter of Joseph
Weir, b.1778 and is probably the d/o James Weir/Ware (bro. of Margaret & Catherine) & unknown first wife. Mary m. Rezin Mason, 10 Apr 1800.
John & Elizabeth (Newland) Mason were m. in Champaign Co., OH and by 1880 were living in Sugar Creek, Greene Co. The 1880 census shows John, with Elizabeth, age 65 and grandson William Engle, age 21 & Nroa Shealy, age 10.
Add this information to Miriman Whitehead's message 164 and the picture becomes more clear.
Add Mary Elizabeth Newland [1801-1844] + John Davis [1800-1880] and you have my G3 grandparents. Look for them in White Co.,IN GenForum.
