Mary,

Interesting how sometimes the flowers of researching suddenly bloom! I got a lead from a researcher at the library and hit its trail...

Both Pearl Durnbaugh Trubee and her husband William Lewis Trubee are buried in Beaver Cemetery in Beavercreek Twp., Greene County, Ohio.

There were apparently TWO men named William Lewis Trubee who were very close in age and who lived near to one another. On their draft registrations, the spouses are different and their birthdates are different, but addresses similar. The other one was married to Edith and was born in March 1880! Confusing at first!

Here's my William Lewis Trubee though...

William L. Trubee's Obituary
From the 01 August 1943 issue of the Xenia Daily Gazette:

"GRAIN ELEVATOR EMPLOYEE 30 Years; Rites Tuesday

William Lewis Trubee, 66, died at his home in Trebein Sunday morning at 10:15 o'clock. He suffered a paralytic stroke four weeks ago.

Born in Xenia April 15, 1877, he had always lived in this community and was employed at the C.O. Miller and Son Elevator, Trebein, for more than thirty years.

He is survived by his widow Mrs. Pearl Durnbaugh Trubee, whom he married in November, 1905; three grandchildren, Pfc. Albert L. Nash, stationed in Lansing, Mich.; Seaman Harold Nash, who is in the navy; and Mrs. Fred E. Glass, Toledo; two brothers, Daniel, Dayton, and Lawrence, Los Angeles, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Miller, New Lebanon, O.

Services will be at the Neeld's Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 p.m., with burial in Beaver Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday evening."

I checked the weekday and the death date from the obit and they match for Sunday, 01 August, 1943. Also, note there is an error in the obit about the year of marriage. (The year of marriage was 1903 and verified by the marriage license.)

Then, here is Pearl A. Durnbaugh Trubee's Obituary --
From the 14 January 1963 issue of the Xenia Daily Gazette:

"Mrs. William Trubee
Services for Mrs. Pearl A. Trubee, 78, of Hiltolp Road., Xenia, Route 3, will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hetrick Funeral Home, 221 Salem Avenue, Dayton, with interment in Beaver Cemetery.

Mrs. Trubee died at 8 a.m. Sunday at the Dayton nursing home where she had been admitted only a short time before. She was the widow of William L. Trubee, whose death occurred in 1943.

She is survived by a brother Wilbur L. Durnbaugh of Xenia, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday."

I checked the weekday and the death date from the obit and they match for Sunday, 13 January, 1963.

I still do not know much about the origins of Pearl's daughter other than her first name was nearly indecipherable on the census -- Seloa/Selva P. Middleton. I found her in a later census as Trubee's daughter (perhaps she was adopted, maybe unofficially?) -- Sylvia Pearl Trubee, but Sylvia's children's death records list mother's maiden name as Middleton. It's been a tangle to straighten out the facts, but I have this much unravelled.

Thanks for your help, Mary!!

Juanita
