George,

I was a little quick to say Isaac Drais married 4 times. One of the women buried in Runk cemetery (Union Twp.) was his daughter, Sarah. She is listed between the first 2 wives of Isaac. The dates for them are the same you have.

From "Cemetery Inscriptions of Highland County, Ohio" by David and Jane McBride, page 490:

DRAIS
Sarah Ann, daughter if I. B. and Hannah, died June 11, 1854, aged 7m 12d.

Masonic Cemetery, Lynchburg, Dodson Twp. page 105:
McCLELLAND
John, 8/30/1823, lost in Battle of Chichamauga 9/20/1863
Elizabeth, wife, also wife of I. B. DRAIS, 3/17/1831-12/22/1908.

Also found death record of Isaac, but he is not in the cemetery book. From "Death Records of Highland County, Ohio, 1867-1908" by G. Breakfield, page 53:

DRAIS, Isaac B. died 2-28-1892, aged 75y. in Uniion TWp., born in KY. Next name is:
DRAIS, Judson, died 11-26-1891, aged 38y. in Union Twp., born in Ohio.

"Marriage Records of Highland County, Ohio (1805-1880)" also by McBrides, page 65:

DRACE, John B. married Hannah Nichols Oct. 17, 1850.
DRAIS, Isaac B. m. Mrs. Elizabeth McClellan Dec. 10, 1874.
DRAIS, Sam'l. m. Roxalina Ruse Sep. 6, 1876.

Names as they appear in the records. I guess Lemuel sounded like Samuel or looks like it on the license. John instead of Isaac? Who knows.

I agree that the "Barney" on 1870 census is Commodore Drais. No one else fits the age and it was customary to list someones spouse immediately under them on a census even when they lived with someone else. That is why Bartley was last named.

I also noticed that Laura gives Indiana as her mother's birthplace at least three times on censuses. On the 1870 census, Amelia Templin gives Indiana as her birthplace. Just another clue.

Clark Twp., Clinton County, OH
TEMPLIN
William, 55, farmer, OH
Amelia, 49, keeping house, IN
Marion, 18, farm labor, OH
William, 16, farm labor, OH
Sarah, 14, at school, OH
Noah, 39, blacksmith, OH

The main question is where is Laura in 1860? Perhaps working in another home as a servant or something. Another question is who is William Templin? Was he a son of Noah Templin and the Rebecca (age 17) on the 1850 census? Were they man and wife?

I have no known connections to any of these people. I just try to learn more about Highland County, Ohio.

Steve
