Fairfield in Highland Co. Ohio information needed

I have a question. I am planning on a trek there this spring/summer, to search for records on my James Bass who lived in Highland Co. Fairfield, Ohio
on the 1860 census it shows him and family.
My question is, since, Fairfield is a township in Highland County, not a town. Towns located in Fairfield Township are Bridges, East Monroe, Highland, and Leesburg.
How would I know what town to go to there?
