Evelyn or Kay,
Are there any death records for the years 1860 to 1870 in Hocking County? I am looking for the death record of James Carpenter, born 1801 in New York. He came to Hocking County in 1843 with wife Nancy and several children. They also had three children born to them between 1843 and 1850. The family is listed in the 1850 and 1860 census for Ward Township. I'm trying to find as much out about them as possible. I believe they are the parents of my great grandfather, James Elizar Carpenter who must have left the family before the 1850 census. ( I found him living with a family named Powell in Jersey County, Illinois in the 1850 census)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jon Carpenter
