The Milan Library and the Sandusky Library have good genealogy info. The Sandusky Library has a large collection of those old local newspapers on microfilm. Also, the Firelands Historical Society, which is located on Case Ave.in Norwalk just down from the Norwalk Library(on W.Main St.)has quite a bit of research material. In Sept. they are only open weekends- Sat 10-3 & Sun 12-4. There is a small daily fee for non members for research there, maybe $3. I'm not sure how much they have on Erie County. It's funny that the father can't be located in the 1850 census. There may not be a will if he did not own property. Hopefully, there is a marriage record in Erie County, but they could have come from anywhere after the marriage. As for Frank's name, before SS people often used what ever name they wanted. There did not seem to be any legal problems with doing that back then. At least that is my take on that. I can ask around for a better researched answer to that question. Shirley
