Vela;

I "believe" William's parents are William and Sarah (Shatto) Ambler. If you look in the 1850 census in Pike Co, theres a William and Sarah born in 1805 and 1811 with a son William thats 14 years old. Then in the 1860 census in Madison Co, there's William and Angeline with a child Sarah 6 months old. Right below them is Catherine Miller, age 75 with Simon age 19. Catherine is kind of old to be their Mother I believe, but I'm not sure. There is no obit for Catherine in the obit index. In the 1880 census in the Infirmary in Madison Co is
Ann Ambler age 30
E. S. "" male age 5
B. E. "" female age 3
S. J. born Sep 1879 female
That 1880 census with Ann age 30 can't be Angeline, the age doesn't match up, so I don't know who she is. I can't figure that one out.
Getting back to William, if you get into rootsweb and punch in the name William Ambler, you'll come up with a marriage to Angeline. His parents then show William and Sarah Shatto in Guernsey Co. So maybe Pike and Guernsey Co's will be somewhere you could also look for further clues. I hope I'm not confusing you any more than I am at this point!!
