Thanks for the info regarding Joseph Stroup's date of death from obit. I have copy of recorded will and estate administration paperwork from Bowling Green, Pike Co., Mo. and knew he died between date of his will (24 Jan) and date that his son and wife, James Denton Stroup and Jane Stroup, filed for executorship (22 Feb).

Questions: what kind of resource did you obtain the info regarding existence of an obit from? and how can I go about getting a copy of the obituary?

I'm guessing that if Joseph's obit appeared in a Madison Co. newspaper, the obits of others in his family may have also. Obits for Jane Stroup and several of the children are available from Pike Co., Mo. genealogical society. but I'm wondering if obits for them might also have appeared in the resource you used to find Joseph's obit covers. What time frame does your resource cover?
