Hi Terry found the following on Denton's in Stokes twp. Abraham Denton was one of the chain carriers for the boundry lines of Madison County in 1810. Skinner Hudson/Hutson was also one of the helpers. Sarah Hudson was the d/o of Skinner Hudson she was b in 1789 Bourbon County Ky; in 1806 she married Jonathan Denton who was killed by Indians; leaving her a widow with 3 children. In 1814 she married James Kilgore. She died Nov 2, 1872 age 84 yrs, These families settled early Stokes twp. Skinner Hudson/Hutson early settler of South Solon. donated land for S Solon cemetery. I have Joseph Stroup who married Jane Denton as the son of John and Mary Steel Stroup, I also show a Joseph who married(1846) Sarah Ann Hanson. This is the Joseph living in Stokes twp on the corner of Harold RD and St RT 41. His son John Stroup married Sarah Ellen Thomas 1872. I didn't have a William listed as a son of John and Mary Steele Stroup but the name William shows up in the grandchildren. I will have to do some more research. So could have been two Joseph's Another early family in Stokes twp is Thomas and I have a Griffith Thomas m Charlotte Huffman/Hoffman in PA and owning land in Augusta County VA in 1753. Wonder if the Hoffman/Huffmans and Thomas in PA are the same connected to William Stroup. more later thanks Pat Notify Administrator about this message?
