Hello, Thanks for your help. It is much appreciated and much needed. I have obit. for Joseph T. others I will send for. Census info. is definately my family. The name Milton comes in due to Dunkirk burials. Joseph T.[not on headstone,d. 1926];John W.1828-1904 & Sarah 1828-1888[on headstone] + Milton d. 1903[not on headstone and no other info.]-all Williamson-- At least John W. and his son Joseph T. died in Findlay, Hancock Co.
Only mar.of a John W. seems to be the Sarah Painter one. John W.'s sister[Sarah Jane b. 1838]and one other on other side of family, married Clabaugh brothers. So name confusion is possible. Haven't found any Sarah Clabaugh[any spelling] who fits. There is one Sarah Painter b. Ohio, who appears to fit, with some reservations. 1850 census, Violet, Fairfield ,Painters; David 64,Mary 75 [both b. Va.;Jonas 26 b. OH ; Sarah 21, b. OH and Milton 2 b. OH --1860 Others not on - Milton still Violet, age 12 with family named Hannon. Says his[Miltons] personal estate value $1500 - Have just been given info. that David Painter died 1857, leaving as his heir the child of his son Jonas Painter-[deceased]- Milton Painter who was granted a guardian in 1860[don't know name of guardian].My other very generous helper is trying to ascertain whether Sarah was wife or sister of Jonas. I have no idea whether Milton in Dunkirk could have been listed erroneously as Williamson due to being bur. in a Williamson plot. Any help at all in sorting out this tangled puzzle is very welcome indeed. Thanks again, Claudia
