I have tracked my great-great-grandfather, Johannes Leonardus Schorr to his birthplace, but now need information before that. If anyone can help, here is what I have:
Johannes Leonardus Schorr, b. 14 May 1813
Parents: Friuedrich Henri Scho(e)rr (possible umlaut?) and,
Magrithe Elisabeth Derichs.
Place: Sankt Georg, Thuringen, Germany
If anyone can tell me where the town is now--I can't find it on maps--or any further information about Friuedrich and Magrithe, I'd be very grateful! Been searching for nearly a decade now!
J.L. came to America in 1845? and settled in Ohio, first in Columbus, then in Morrow County. He married Anna Marie Schertzer, and they had at least three children: Barbara, John, Lewis...I will have to look up my info for the others.
