Could this be your BENNETT family in 1870 in Defiance, Defiance, OH:
William, 31, OH, livery stable keeper
Mary, 29, Switzerland, both parents of foreign birth, keeps house
Fanny V., 8, OH
Defiance Co. is the next county east of Paulding Co.
William BENNETT's death cert #21055 shows that he was b 22 Jan 1840 in Adams Co. OH, d 17 Mar 1923, age 83-1-23, in Piqua, Miami, OH. He was a farmer, widower of Mary and his residence was 1103 Covington Ave., Piqua. His father was Madison and his mother was Elizabeth Frump, birthplaces of both unknown. The informant was Fred Bennett, St. Louis, MI. William's cause of death was cerebral parylsis and he was buried 19 Mar 1923 in Paulding Cemetery.
I can't locate any death cert for Mary, whose maiden name was CUMMINGS or anything close. However, maybe she was married before and her maiden name was something else. I can't find any Mar* Cum*, born Switzerland ca 1845, in the 1860 census, any state.
