Hi Jacqi. I also have Metzgers among my relatives. I am not sure they are related to yours. Mine begins with Jacob Metzger (1831-1911), son of Michael and Appalonia (Rheymann) Metzger. I'm not sure where Michael and his wife came from, but they both died in Perry County, OH in the 1840s.
Jacob Metzger was married three times. His third wife was Mary E Gordon whom he married on 1 Sep 1891 in Perry County. Mary was the daughter of Basil Albert and Margaret (Keenan) Gordon; she was born on 13 Jan 1850 and died on 29 Sept 1921.
And then there is Joseph Raymond Metzger, b: 26 Oct 1866 in Perry Co and d: 29 Jul 1921 in Perry Co. He was the son of Michael and Catherine (Mutter) Metzger. In 1888, Joseph married Bertha A Gordon (1868-1927), daughter of Adam Simon and Emily (Snider) Gordon. They were the parents of 8 children - Simon, Bertha, Mary Jennie, Mark and 4 infants who died shortly after their birth.
