Hi, Ruth, Glad to hear from you again, although this time on a different forum! You and I have emailed before about our respective GORDON lines. Also, I think you and I are also on private lists by two other family researchers on related lines. Although I knew about our Gordon connection, I hadn't realized your lines and my husband's (METZGER and GORDON are actually his lines) also crossed due to the Metzger connection. You mentioned Joseph Raymond Metzger (1866). That is my husband's great grandfather. (Did you see the picture someone posted on Tim Fisher's website of his family? It was so fun to see that...my husband remembers seeing that picture when he was a kid.) Actually, I am having a problem with Joseph's parentage. I haven't been able to find him in anything official before his marriage certificate (m to Bertha GORDON). Someone told me he also went by another name, but I have never found anything official to verify that. Have you? I saw you listed his parents as Michael and Catherine (Mutter) Metzger. My husband descends from Joseph METZGER and Bertha GORDON's daughter Bertha. Do you connect with this specific line (Joseph and Bertha)? I'd be interested in seeing how our lines intertwine. I am working on descendants as well as ancestors, and currently am working on collecting the obits for Metzger and Gordon descendants in the Ohio area. I'll be continuing to post what I find in hopes it helps others. btw, a little clarification, in case others misread your post about Joseph and Bertha. I had thought you meant that the listed children were descendants of Joseph Metzger and Bertha Gordon (which they weren't), but a little poking around on my database confirmed you were actually listing the descendants of Bertha Gordon's parents. And, actually, I didn't realize that they had four infant deaths...although I did have the four children listed who lived to adulthood. As far as Joseph Metzger and Bertha Gordon, I have ten children listed for them: Lawrence, Emily, Mary Rose, Agnes, George, Francis, Bertha, Joseph, Robert, Dorothy. All these lived to adulthood and all but three of them (Lawrence, George, and Francis) married and had descendants, as far as I can tell. Notify Administrator about this message?
