The 1840 census shows Hugh McCarty head of household. It is probably the same family that appears with Hugh as head of household in the 1830 census in Pickaway County. This Hugh and his wife do not appear in the 1850 census, but had children David, Hugh, John, Amy (Rusamy), Isabella, Elizabeth, Margaret, Eleanor and another daughter. Who was Hugh's wife, where/when did they die, where/when married? Children reported in later census records that Hugh was "born upon the ocean" and lived in Maryland, with Mother from Pennsylvania. Some of their children married into the Chandler, Bacon, Haynes families.
