Hi Guys! I've searched Gallia, Lawrence and Clark Counties, Ohio and have come up blank, and last night I found the 1900 census that may prove why. I found my grandparents were living in Bloom, Scioto County for a very brief time! I'm looking for the birth of my grandmother Bessie Mae Hixon. She was the daughter of William O. and Laura Ellen "Ella" Rice Hixon (Hixon, Hickson, Hixson...). She was born May 16, 1901. However, her mother died Oct. 12, 1902, in Symmes Twp., Lawrence County, Ohio. And within a year or two she was sent by her father to live with her Aunt Hattie and Uncle Will Wright in Clark County. I'm wondering if she was born in Scioto County while the family was living there. Would someone please check the birth records for me? I don't need a copy at this stage of the game, but if anyone's going to be where the records are kept could you please just check May 16, 1901 for any Hixons born on that day? I'd be most appreciative. She's been very elusive, and I've been unable to find her birth certificate anywhere. Her marriage certificate gives place of birth as Clark County, but I'm just not seeing that. I believe it's an error because that's the earliest place she remembers. Didn't Ohio require the recording of births by 1901? Thanks, Linda Trent lindatrent@zoomnet.net Notify Administrator about this message?
