Henry A. and Alvin H. are the same person.
Viola and John Henry PETTIT were in Toledo on 12 Sep 1918 when he registered for the WWI draft. He said he was born 16 Aug 1884, lived at 660 Sylvania Ave., was a milk driver for Lewis ?Lacky in Toledo and his nearest relative was wife Mrs. Viola Pettit, same address.
There were 3 registrations for the WWI draft and the 1918 form did not require the applicant to state his birthplace, as did the 2 earlier forms.
In 1930, The two oldest children lived with their aunt, Clara B. BAKER in Toledo:

dau, Martha B., 11, OH OH OH
dau, Lyda Belle, 14, OH OH OH

nephew, Harold E. PETTIT, 17, OH OH OH, paper route, city paper
roomer, Cora B. LITTLE, 54, widow, IN OH IL, assembler, auto parts shop
In 1930, Alvin H. PETTIT, 21, was incarcerated in the Toledo House of Corrections in Waterville Twp., Lucas Co. OH, which was a a prison farm for misdemeanor offenders.
I don't know what happened to John and Viola. Perhaps, they were involved with Alvin in some crime but to a higher degree of participation.
I think the key to finding John's parents would be if Clara Baker was his sister but she could have been Viola's sister, too.
