The family was apparently in Missouri in 1900, however I cannot find any record to substantiate this. I sent for a copy of George F. Carpenter SS5 and found out that his father's name was not Amos, that must have been a nickname, his father was Lewis Riley Carpenter. The marriage to Mary Yates took place in Missouri, and they moved to OK, Blaine Co., I have gone to the Courthouse in Watonga but there is no record of the family there. No birth records either for George.
