Oney middle name.

My father's father was named Jack Oney Hood and we know that his father, Mark Kress Hood, and mother Minnie Studdard lived in Oklahoma, were born in Jackson County in 1880 and 1889 respectivly, and married in Tillman county in 1904. I was quite surprised to find that there is a city (town?) in Caddo county named Oney. I was thinking maybe it is a maiden name or a relatives name? Is there an Oney family in Oney? Or perhaps it is where a relative lived? Is there anyone from Caddo county that is related to the Hood or Studdard line? My father's father left the family when my father was very young and took any family information with him so we are having a hard time with our genealogy search. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
