Claud C. Coats Dies ; At Gracemont; Rites Here Sunday, 2 P. M.
Funeral services for Claud C. Coats of Gracemont were held at 2 p. m. Sunday in the Pitcher chapel and burial was in the Carnegie cemetery with the Pitcher Funeral Home in charge. Rev. W. W. Fitzgerald, pastor of the Methodist church of Gracemont, was assisted in conducting the servics by Rev. Leroy Simmons, pastor of the Methodist church of Carnegie. Coats had been in poor health for several years.       

Claud Coats was born Oct. 17, 1888, in Vernon, Texas, and died at 6 p. m. Friday, Oct. 29, at his home in Gracemont.

He was married to Carriebell Kerston in 1911. Mrs. Coats died Sept. 10, 1919. On July 10, 1921, he married Alma Landers. He came to Carnegie in 1828 and worked for the Southwestern Light & Power company and for the Kaufman Electric company. He was living on the farm two mile south of Carnegie when his health failed four years ago. Later he moved to Gracemont. When a young man he was converted and united with the Missionary Baptist church. Mr. Coats is survived by his wife,Mrs. AIma Coats; two daughters, Mrs. Ora Patterson, Carnegie, and: Ola at home;. five sons, J. D. Coats , Mercedes, Calif.; Buster Coats, Los Angeles; C. ,C. Coats in the armed services at Camp Ellis, Ill., and Gerald and Dee at home; two sisters, Mrs. S. L. Ingram, a twin sister, and Mrs. Bill Patterson of Lookeba, and eight brothers, Alva Coats, Carnegie; one brother in California and six in Detroit, Mich. Six grandchildren also survive.
