I am searching all over for information on my GG-Grandma born Willah Mina Gibson b. July 8, 1898 d.July 15,1985 , but later married Ruel Lester Barcus of Itasca County, MN. Willah Mina (Gibson) Barcus had a mother named Matilda Caroline (Rector) Gibson b. 1859 d. Jan 26, 1945, who married William Castelton Gibson b. Jan 17, 1856 d. may 7, 1936. My great grandmother, Ida Mae Barcus, told me just this morning that her grandmother Matilda was adopted by a white family, but was originally from the Kiowa Tribe.

There has been a newspaper article that featured either my GGG-Grandma Matilda or my GG-Grandma Willah, and briefly talking about their affiliation with the Kiowa Tribe and how they are fair skinned Indians from the plains. My grandmother has used this article for enrollment purposes here in MN, but unfortunately it has been misplaced.

If anyone has ANY information at all that would be great. We are trying to find more information as most documentation was misplaced during our move to Northern Minnesota.
