Looking for information on the following people buried in Gracemont Cemetery in Caddo County. I would REALLY like to correspond with any descendants/family members!
STATTON
Dave -- 07-Nov-1907 - 27-Sep-1997
Lillie -- 1876 - 1962
Murry -- 13-Oct-1913 - 17-Nov-1992
WHILTON
Uncle Sam -- no dates
WHITTON
Uncle Buster -- no dates
Also for Sallie WHITTEN (1853 - after 1920, grave proably unmarked) and Minnie TURNER (born about 1908, now deceased). Sallie and Minnie are supposed to be buried at Gracemont, but I cannot find their tombs.
I believe Lillie, Sam, and Buster to be siblings, children of Jim and Sallie WHITTEN of Lamar County, Texas. This is the information I have on them so far.
1. Lillie WHITTEN married John STATTON in 1898 in Lamar County, Texas. Their children were Jay STATTON (b. 1906), David STATTON (1907-1997), probably Murry STATTON (1913-1992), and Maggie STATTON (still living in 2000).
2. Sam WHITTEN was born about 1885 in Mississippi. He was listed on the 1910 Caddo County, OK census with his brother Bester (Buster) WHITTEN, mother Sallie WHITTEN, and niece Minnie TURNER. I believe the Sam WHILTON above is this same man.
3. Buster (Bester, Vester) WHITTEN was born about 1882 in Mississippi. He is listed on the 1910 Caddo County, OK census as head of the house with brother Sam (above), mother Sallie, and niece Minnie TURNER. He and mother Sallie are listed on the 1920 Caddo census also.
4. Minnie TURNER was born about 1908. Her mother was Lula WHITTEN TURNER, a sister to Sam, Buster, and Lillie. I don't know Minnie's father's name. I suspect that Minnie's parents died about 1910 because she is listed on the 1910 Caddo census at age 2 living with her uncle Bester WHITTEN and her grandmother Sallie WHITTEN. Minnie married Floyd TURNER, and I was told that Minnie was buried at Gracemont.
