I have just learned that my greatgrandmother qualified for 160 acres of "Gibson Bottom" near Tahlequah. She and my greatgrandfather made the trip to see about it but returned after 2-3 days because of the danger to my greatgrandfather. I understand there were people that would beat up and kill "squaw men", those men who were married to Indians, and my greatgrandmother didn't want anything to happen to him. I would like to know where Gibson Bottom would have been........maybe Lake Gibson? And what would have happened to that land when she didn't stay?
