A family history research project seeks assistance from living Carter men, who are descendants of James V. Carter (1847-1921). Jim Carter was born in Jackson County, Tennessee, and he lived most of his adult life near Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Jim was married to Nannie Samples.

Participants may be Carter males descended from any of Jim V. Carter's sons: John Enoch Carter (1870-1959), Rice Carter (b. 1873), or "Wash" Carter (b. 1887).

Participants will be asked basic questions about their Carter heritage and will participate in a DNA test from a sampling of cells from the inner cheek. The test is simple; the results, secure and confidential. Fees for testing will be covered by an association of cousins who are seeking to solve some mysteries associated with a parallel Carter line.

If you are interested in participating, or if you know of someone who might want to participate, please email the address, which shows up after clicking next to "posted by" above.
