Rankin family near Walters

My great-grandfather, William H. Rankin, homesteaded near Walters in 1907. He received his homestead in the "Big Pasture" land lottery of 1906. If anyone has any information on the family and the location near Walters, I would appreciate. William H. Rankin died at the Grandfield hospital in 1938 and is buried in Gardner, KS.
