We are trying to take care of some loose ends on our Davis genealogy, and find we need further information about the following couple: Lafayette Hendrix b. about 1885 - of Clark County, Illinois md. About 1905 - Clark County, Illinois. Wife:Myrtle Davis b. March 1886 - Clark County, Illinois Daughter of William Riley Davis and Mary Elizabeth Beadle). The following Hendix family lived in Dolson Township, Clark County, Illinois in 1900, and son Alfred Lafayette Hendrix used the name "Lafayette." William B. Hendrix b. July 1854 - Illinois Mary M. Hendrix b. Sept.1851 - Kentucky Noah A. Hendrix b. Aug. 1879 - Illinois Alfred Lafayette Hendrix b. Apr. 1884 - Illinois Willie W. Hendrix b. July 1891 - Illinois By 1910, all of these Hendrixes had moved to Custer County, Oklahoma. In this census, Alfred Lafayete Hendrix was married to a woman named Cora M. Hendrix, born about 1888/89--a little later than Myrtle Davis (who was born in 1886), and her birth place is given as Missouri instead of Illinois. Could Myrtle have dislked her name and used “Cora M.” after her marriage? Or were there really two different women married to the same or different Lafayette Hendrixes with roots in Clark Co., Illinois? There weren’t any other Lafayette Hendrixes living in Clark County 1900-1910, and it still seems likely that the Lafayette from Clark Co., Illinois who went to Oklahoma by 1910--was the same Lafayette Hendrix who married our Myrtle Davis in Clark Co between 1900 and 1908. Did Lafayette and Myrtle marry between 1900-1908 before a divorce or her early death made it possible for him to marry again before 1910? Are Myrtle and Cora M. one and the same person? Or were there really two Lafayette Hendrixes in Clark County, Illinois looking for wives at the turn of the century? We’ll surely be glad to hear from anyone who can staighten out this perplexing situation Notify Administrator about this message?
