Hi - I have been trying to find out more about my gg-grandfather, Alfred "Corn" Hampton. He was married to Cora Jackson and they had a number of children, including my grandfather William Howell Hampton, and they lived in Miami, OK; Seneca, MO; and surrounding areas. We haven't been able to find anything about Corn's family. However, we have found some information online about Harvey "Henry" Hampton (son of George Washington Hampton) that suggests he may have been "Corn" Hampton. In addition, in some research notes we have copies of bible pages that list an Alfred Hampton as the son of George Washington Hampton. The note online was: The Obituary of Rebecca Louise Copeland reported that she recalled the first burial in Olympus Cemetery, that of the wife of Corn Hampton, the tombstone of Elizabeth Hampton reads 1830 - 1888. She is buried beside H. Harvey Hampton, dates are April 13, 1827 - March 20, 1915. I have been trying to determine if this Elizabeth Hampton was the first burial in Olympus Cemetery - if so, perhaps she is the wife of Corn Hampton, but I suppose it's also possible that another person was the first to be buried. If that is the case, that person could be a link to my Alfred Corn Hampton. If anyone has any additional information about this, I would love to hear about it. I will be in the area in a few weeks and am interested in stopping by Olympus Cemetery - if you know how to get there and can let me know, I'd appreciate it! Thanks! :-) Notify Administrator about this message?
