After reading many old newspapers, I have determined the name of the sheriff was John W. Sims. His wife was Mary F. Sims.
There is a lot of information in the newspapers of the time about the killing of Sheriff Sims, the following elections for sheriff are all involved in his killing. Eventually, Mrs. Sims is sent to the hospital in Norman after she shoots the man she named for the killing of her husband. I found her on the 1910 census at the hospital in Norman.
Does anyone know what eventually became of Mrs. Sims? Was she later released from the hospital or did she live/die in the hospital?
