i came across your message and thought it was a coincidence that i married a "short" from duke, oklahoma.by the time he was born, most of the "shorts" (the older ones) were deceased. but he said he's pretty sure that these names(hiram,james, & joe short) ring a bell. his dad was born in 1895, but passed away in 1961.he said his grandfather's (my husband's)name was "ozzie" short, even though this may not be the right spelling.
he had always heard they traveled here from kentucky, but never was sure from what town.
i don't know if this is of any help, but i'd like to hear from you if it does.pleas feel free to e-mail me.at one time i started trying to do a family history on the "short" family, but never finished.
