I am making a trip to Jefferson County sometime in the next 8-10 weeks. I have three cemetaries I want to visit - Addington, Hastings, Ryan. I know I can find the cemetaries and I know the names of the persons that I will be looking for (they are listed on the Jefferson County Cemetery Archives page as being buried in each). I want to take photos of the headstones. So here is my question. In each of the towns, which office keeps the cemetery records (i.e., plots #s, how to find the grave). Or does a person just have to walk the cemetery to find the headstones? From my research in Oklahoma I know that cemetery record (plot #s) are kept by water departemnts, police departments, individuals, county commissioners, cemetery assocaition, etc). It sure would make things simpler if I knew who was the keeper of the records before I get there. Thanks for any information. I am not looking to see if they are buried there, but am LOOKING TO FIND THE PERSON WHO CAN TELL ME THE LOCATION OF THE GRAVE IN THE CEMETERY. Thanks for any information.
