I was at the research library today at the Oklahoma History Center and read the following newspapers:
Waurika News Democrat
Ringling Eagle
Ryan Leader
These are all weekly papers in Jefferson County. Michael Brown was not listed in the obituaries. I also checked the Daily Oklahoman where they list deaths statewide and did not find him.
Since the Oscar Cemetery is near the Red River which divides Oklahoma and Texas, it could be he lived in TX and was buried at Oscar in which case his obituary may have been in a Texas newspaper.
