My great-aunt's (grandma's sister) first husband was killed in the Salt Fork River flood in 1923. I've searched numerous OK history sites, google searches, etc. and I've found a few mentions of the flood, but no mention at all of the death. I'm hoping someone here might have some info. Fred Evans, husband of Margaret Smith Evans. They were living in Riverview at the time. The Smith family "home place" was right on the river. Fred drowned while trying to help relatives and neighbors evacuate. My grandmother (the baby of the family) was only about 4 years old, and witnessed her brother-in-law's drowning. It was her earliest memory, and remained vivid for her for the next 80 years. She never set foot in a body of water again. If anyone has information, I would love to hear from you!
